Ishtar & Brute is a body positive made-to-measure brand. A bold and seductive label that touches on fetishism and offers perfectly fitting garments and a range of leather accessories. Specializing in custom-fitted clothing for every body. Quality craftsmanship since 2006.

Roots
Ishtar & Brute was founded in 2006 and originated from a very real difficulty to find great fitting clothes for a body shape that wasn’t very well represented nor dressed in the conventional fashion world at the time. Although the world has changed since then, there can still be problems with the fit of the garments when you shop the regular size ranges, especially when shopping online.
This issue, combined with a background and great love for pattern making and tailoring, we really wanted to solve.

Made-to-Measure
Although it definitely wasn’t the easy way, we concluded that if we really wanted to dress every single body in perfect fitting garments we had to be a made-to-measure brand.
We want everyone to be able to say: “This fits me like it was made for me.” Because frankly it is.

We started our ‘made-to-measure for every body endeavour’ with a focus on one single item to show off your curves and our tailoring skills; the legging, and developed that skill to perfection.
In the past few years we’ve started to add different garments and in 2025 we will offer a full range made-to-measure collection.

Because we are an online made-to-measure brand our items are technically smart constructed. Our garments are shape enhancing and contouring. Our fabrics are high quality and comfortable. And our style is seductive and a little provocative.

Sustainability
We hold a short European chain of production. We do not dump a mass quantity of products onto the market, don’t have over-production and material waste because of our made-to-measure base.

Besides our core business of being a made-to-measure brand, we also try to integrate practices that minimize our environmental impact and promote social responsibility throughout our supply chain.

Made-to-measure
Being a made-to-measure brand also means we are a made-to-order brand, which allows us to have:

  • No overproduction
  • A minimum waste of fabrics and materials
  • No stock, so very little storage space is necessary
  • There are very very few returns because we make every item in your specific size

    Our supply chain
    We maintain a short supply chain. Our supplies and material list contains 95% of short distance items like fabric, zippers, buttons, labels, etc.

    We produce locally, in the Netherlands. We design, make patterns, cut the fabric and collect every label and extra material and accessory needed per order in one place. Then we personally take the bundled per order parts to our atelier at 36 kilometers (22 miles) distance in the Netherlands, which also means fair wages and safe working conditions.

    Furthermore, our packaging is industrial degradable, our office works on solar panels and is located in a sustainable labeled area.

    About 50% of all fabrics we use are made from recycled material. Those suppliers have earned the STeP certification (Sustainable Textile & Leather Production), which is a certification system for environmentally friendly and socially responsible production facilities along the supply chain. For example, we work with the fabric Econyl, a nylon fabric made by upcycling waste that would normally be thrown away – think fishing nets and textile production waste.

    As it is a good start we continue to strive to implement more sustainable fabrics and materials in our designs.

    Body positivity, inclusivity and sexual freedom
    Ishtar & Brute lives on the sweet crossover of fashion and fetishism. Two beautiful worlds collide and come together in ensembles that showcase and reaffirm one's freedom.
    Sex sells, yes, but it takes more than that, especially today. The quality of the cut, material especially with fetish wear in latex and leather, as well as the style of the fit.

    Body positivity and inclusivity is what we are founded on. Clothes that fit you, not you who has to fit the clothes is what we create. Acceptance and celebration of all bodies, regardless of size, shape, gender, sexual identity and physical abilities. We are a brand that breathes sensuality and hints fetish with a main focus on sexual freedom for every body under the sun.
